Bottlenose Dolphin 4/9/25

I’ve been watching my friend Chris’ updates with a touch of envy the past few days as he was out looking for, and finding, some dolphins and whales. I’ve been tied up with a few things and unable to go out looking/photographing, plus my backlog is enormous right now and I’ve been reluctant to add to it until I get a chance to whittle that backlog down a bit. But today when he mentioned the dolphins were in the area, right near sunset, I figured I could spare a little time to go out, especially because I knew there wouldn’t be a chance of getting drawn into an hours-long session, given that there was only a short period of light left.

I haven’t had a chance to go through all of my shots, but when I saw this dolphin launch out of the water right at sunset, I first screamed like a little kid, and then thought “I have to look at that photo as soon as I get home, and if it came out I’m just going to post that”. It did come out, and so I’m posting it. Since all of the shots in the sequence came out, I decided to include more than just one. These are the 3 I liked best of the series.
