Double the Love 8/23/24

These two Humpback Whales have been traveling around Pacifica together for a little while now and occasionally double-lunge. I haven’t been around when they were doing that, and have been jealous of the double-lunge shots I’ve seen others get. Today when I showed up at Linda Mar Beach I saw them double-lunge as I was still walking along the beach, so was unable to get the shot and was frustrated that I missed the shot. Fortunately for me, they did it a few more times. I only managed to get decent shots of two of the double-lunges, but in this case, I’m pretty happy with the two I got. One of the whales has been nicknamed “Pinky” by the Pacifica Whalespotting group due to the pink in the ventral pleats. Pinky has become a bit of a celebrity among the whale spotters. Someone even went back through old photos and found that I had gotten photos of Pinky back in 2022.
