Green Heron juvenile 9/4/23
This young one was hanging around at the Mori Pt pond. Local ornithologist Joseph Morlan posted a photo a few days ago alerting people of its presence. He also noted that it’s a little surprising for a juvenile to be here, because they are not known to breed in the immediate area. The heron seemed a bit skittish and only came out of hiding for a few minutes and then flew back into the reeds. I managed to catch a shot of him as he was flying back. I think this is the first time I’ve gotten a Green Heron in flight.
