American Kestrel - Pt Reyes 1/22/24

After sitting through a full day meeting of the City of Pacifica’s local coastal plan update, I really needed a glass of wine and some photos. So I decided to try and do some more sorting and processing of my shots from Point Reyes. This American Kestrel was extraordinarily tolerant. She didn’t seem to mind me at all, and let me get closer than I’ve ever gotten to a Kestrel. She would hover a while, like a White-tailed Kite, then dive down and pick up a bug, fly to some nearby scrub, eat it and then head back to do it again. With all of the opportunities she gave me, I feel I should have done a better job, but I’m pretty pleased with the first two shots.
