Four Off the Floor 12/8/24

I love it when all four paws are off the ground! This evening I took my usual walk to Mori Pt for the first time in many months. Boy have I missed doing that walk! I was greeted by some of my favorite friends. Just as I started my walk, I spotted a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk. Seeing the Red-tailed Hawks tends to give me the sense that as crazy as life may get, some things can be counted on to stay the same. Then some beautiful Western Bluebirds showed up with wonderful light from the setting sun. I thought those were going to be the photos I was going to post when I got back.

Then someone came up to me and said, “Is that an animal over there?” I looked and said “I think that’s just a log, but let me put my lens on it.” Turns out I was wrong and it was a coyote! I took a few shots and then high-tailed it to a better vantage point. This guy was gorgeous in the setting sun, and I was sure some of those beautiful portrait shots were what I’d post. Then he seemed to get a scent of something, I got excited I might get a pouncing shot, and sure enough that’s exactly what he did!

I’ll probably be posting some of the other photos later, for now the show goes to the pouncing coyote.
