Gray Whale Video at Pacifica Pier 3/29/25

This Gray Whale was hanging around the pier area for a long time. I first spotted it just after 10:30am and the last I saw it was 3:20pm. It generally stayed close to shore, moving around between the pier and Mori Pt. At the end, it moved to the North side of the pier for just a little bit, gave us a nice fluke and then was gone. It’s quite a blessing to have a Gray Whale hang around for so long. Typically on their Northern migration, they’re making a beeline up the coast.

Since it hung around for so long, I was able to get a variety of photographs of it. It got to the point where I had about as many decent photos as I thought I was going to get, so I decided to switch to video for a bit. I managed to get a few clips, which isn’t easy with Gray Whales and a long lens. Since I only had a few video clips, it was easier to start there. I’ll post the photographs once I’ve managed to sort and process them.
