Great Blue Heron 5/11/24
There have been a few Great Blue Herons flying around the lake, but they’ve typically been flying pretty high and most of my photographs of them have been average-at-best. This morning while I was standing on the dock, I wasn’t really expecting to get many, if any, shots because there were folks doing work at the pavilion cleaning it up and preparing it for the season. So I was mostly just taking in the scenery, which left me a bit flat-footed when this Blue Heron decided to come in and land on the floating dock which had just been put out a few days earlier. He landed, seemed to look around like he was evaluating the work being done, and then took off.
