Humpback Whale 9/19/23
This was another lucky lunch break. At the end of my morning meeting, I saw some dolphins so decided to grab my camera and see if I could snap a few shots. The dolphins were mostly out of range by the time I got out there, but I discovered there were 3 Humpbacks hanging around the pier. I hurried out to the end of the pier and got some photos. I started to leave, and had already half-turned to walk away when I caught one breaching out of the corner of my eye. I snapped back around, pointed in the area and managed to catch him doing it a couple more times. I debated whether to take the best shots and put them in a post, or to take the best sequence. I opted for the latter, though it was so close between this sequence and one other that I might end up posting the other sequence too. I never did manage to eat lunch, but it was well worth it! Oh, and you might gather from the splash in the last photo, we’re in the middle of a red tide right now. I first noticed it two days ago.
