Waves 12/22/24
Watching the forecasts and seeing the wave height maps showing > 50 foot waves out in the middle of the Pacific, I had planned on starting to watch the waves on my webcams around 3am this morning to make sure we didn’t need more sandbags. But I ended up waking up at 2am, which happened to be the time the first wave came over the wall near the flag pole. Between 2am-5am we had several more come over the wall. Fortunately none of the waves made it to my driveway. Then around 630am a couple of my photographer friends started messaging about going out to photograph the waves. I hadn’t planned on going out because I have a lot of other things to do, but eventually decided to go out for just a bit.
Around the time we headed to the pier, the fog started coming in and it started misting. The waves were also getting smaller and the tide was going out. So we didn’t get a lot of great opportunities, but I got a few shots. And of course, literally as soon as we left the pier everything cleared up. The life of a photographer ….
